If you’re not first, you’re last!

We are in the win column again at .500. Two games out of first and 1/2 game over the Brewers. This is crunch time. If we don't win the Division, we won't make it to the Post-Season. We will get there. We proved last year the underdog still has fight in him. Now not to jinks us, we do have to win as much as we can. Tonight's game against the Astros is little more than a gimme win but every one counts. After the sweep at Houston, we play the Red Hot Red's at our house. We have to keep in mind the season is winding down but the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

Yay Red Birds

Booo Cubs.

BTW, Cubs is an acronym for Completely Useless By September. And it's knocking on our door.

Peace!

Been a long time...

It has been a while since the Cardinal Fan has graced the blog network with a post. I have no reason except that I have been busy. I just graduated college and am looking for a new job (between watching Cards games). Just a few notes on the Redbirds for the last month. Good to see Ankiel back up and looking sharp. I'm glad the pitching has turned around for the better. Some of the power is back in the hitting and the boys look like they are having fun playing the game and not as if it were just a job.

Sad news for the Cardinal fan. No, no one died, no one got hurt. Although my BFF The Lone Met Fan moved to Colorado. Now picture this... the LMF was born and raised in OK. He bleeds Crimson and loves the OK Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, and (for some stupid reason) the NY Mets. Now he just moved to COLORADO!!! He is the bravest SOB I know. He said today he put a Sooners wallpaper on his work PC and he already has death threats from the Denver Crips led by Jimmy and Timmy from South Park because of it. Lay low for a while and it will blow over LMF.

Back to the Birds... OK, here is my dream team and see if you agree.

1st - Pujols
2nd - Ryan
Short Stop - Eckstein
3rd - Rolen
Catcher - Molina
LF - Duncan or Ludwick
CF - Jimmy Edmonds
RF - Rick Ankiel

Starter - Wainwright
Set-up - Percival
Closer - Isringhausen (even though my nuckles and sphincter are "white and tight" when he pitches)

I believe this line up would win us more games to get us to the Post-Season

I know guys like Carpenter and Wilson and Taguchi are worthy as starters and clutch players, but only if they are healthy and active.

My Post-Season Prediction...

AL East - Red Sox
AL Central - Indians
AL West - Mariners (I know shut up)
AL WC - Angels

NL East - Mets
NL Central - Cardinals (of course)
NL West - Diamondbacks
NL WC - Padres

World Series RedSox - Diamondbacks

I am realistic so I don't really think we can pull off a back-to-back WS Title. Although I told myself we wouldn't win the NLDS and we did, the NLCS and we did, and the WS and we did. So I have to keep with tradition and superstition.

Peace until next time.

Oh, BTW... this weeks sniffer award goes to Michael Vick.
