If you don't know who they are Troy Glaus definitely does! Troy Glaus is in the last year of his contract, and the Cardinals may be ready to let him go if any of their third-base prospects shows signs of being ready. The prospects are in the upper levels of the Minor Leagues: David Freese, Brett Wallace and Allen Craig. They're all pushing hard, and it's extremely difficult to envision a 2010 Cardinals club that doesn't include at least one of them. That's especially true if it's the difference between, say, Wallace at the Major League minimum and Glaus at eight figures per year. That's not to say Glaus is a lost cause. His 27 HRs and 99 RBIs last year are good stats for anyone. He has his best batting average in four years and is third among his teammates in HRs, BRIs, TBs and second in walks.
Freese, who plays for AAA Memphis, has 26 HRs and 91 BRIs with a .306 avg. How well will he do in the BIGS? Only time will tell.
I just hope that this year is the year we dominate the NL Central again and the Post Season will have the Cards playing their hearts out.
All we have to do now is wait for OPENING DAY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!
TCF out.
